Ethno-Jazz project Baraka based in Riga (Latvia) continues its plunge into the mysterious world of oriental art. The new album was inspired by a thousand year old history of lyrical poetry from Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan.
The main voice of "Gole Sangam" is a true bearer of the Tajik song tradition, a singer named Zarina Tadjibaeva, who's presently residing in Europe. She is assisted by the band permanent soloist Devika Evsikova and one more guest of the art project – performer Iran Raihi who reads verses of modern Iranian poets to the accompaniment of the band.
Ancient Persian ghazals and modern Central Asian pop music are intertwined with intricate jazz improvisations and mellifluous notes of lounge into a motley likeness of a Persian carpet.
"Gole Sangam" should certainly bridge yet another gap between the East and the West.
I am like a stone flower, if you do not shine on me like The Sun with its rays. If you do not rain on me, there is nothing you can learn about me. Like the wind I am blowing around you besotted.

I want to go to the mountains, to hunt deer, I want to meet you, conquer you, my beloved Laili. But where is my rifle? There, behind the village, you murdered your loved one, and wrote a letter with his blood. Your face is like The Moon, your glance is like an arrow, your dark eyes took away my heart. I saw how the doves flew from the roof as you cast them into the sky.

My sweet Bibi Sanam, from the land where pomegranates grow. No one knew what was in our hearts. No one appre- ciated our festivity. Aside from the wind in this strange city, no one understood the meaning of our celebration. You have appeared in my dreams amidst thousands of flowers. Yet, I long to see you in my waking hours. Even if all the flowers in this world wither, in my heart you will always blossom.

The flower in my vase was broken in the wind. Come back to me before I cry. Alas,
the night flower is no longer fragrant. Who picked this night flower?
A piece of the sky is full of rainbows, I am like the darkness, you are like The Moon.
If the wind does not touch your hair, I will get lost in the woods of your dreams.
My flower in the vase, my moonshine on the veranda, I am left without you like a fish without water.
The flower of all passions has withered, I have become a river, and my heart has turned into a swamp.
