Latvian ethno-jazz band BARAKA is working on a new album "Baraka plays Baroque"
Latvian ethno-jazz band BARAKA is working on a new album "Baraka plays Baroque". In this paper, the original reading of Baroque music with elements of jazz, ethnics and art-rock will be presented.
Rare in Europe, the instrument chapman stick sounds like a harpsichord, and as a guitar, and as a bass, and the vocal parts of Devika Evsikova combine classical and jazz parts of compositions with their own pattern. Thus, the collective decided to show the unknown side of Baroque music - the works of Handel, Vivaldi, Scarlatti and other composers of this distant era will find new colors.
We offer to listen to one track from this album «Vedrò con mio diletto» by composer Antonio Vivaldi. This is the aria of the Byzantine emperor Anastasius from the opera Justin, who sings about his beloved wife Ariadne.
